Eagle Lake 5/24/16
I have some great news for those of you who have always wanted to fish with us at Eagle Lake; or those that have been wanting to return. The lake received a good shot of water from this winters storms. Doug Rodricks and I are planning a trip this June. Cost will be $525.00 per day for 1-2 ppl, add $100 for a third rod. We will supply all your fishing gear, you need licenses, & to arrange your lodging and meals. We have detailed info we can pass on if you decide to fish with us here regarding where to stay, etc. From local reports, & what I know of Eagle after a decade of guiding here; Eagle should be epic due to a lack of pressure the last couple seasons. June is a great month to fish here before the heat of summer sets in and drives the fish deep. We will be guiding you in our sister 24 foot Ranger bay boats. We can accommodate a group of three per boat. We have 6/14/16 with one boat open. If you have never caught a “native” Eagle Lake strain of rainbow trout, you’ve missed perhaps the hardest pulling still water fish in the state. The beauty of Eagle in itself is stunning, & I hope you can make it up this June.
Wicked good fishing for Bill, Ed, & Bob on their trip to Eagle. Eagle Lake has a reputation for being one of the finest rainbow trout fisheries in the state.
Where to stay:
Eagle Lake RV Park ~This is one of the cleanest and well run RV parks you will find with beautiful views of the lake. If you don’t have your own RV they also rent cabins and trailers which are really nice. These folks are super friendly and will take good care of you. The Eagle Lake RV Park has all my fly patterns developed for Eagle Lake, and the Under-Cator strike indicator in stock. There is also a good selection of larger trolling flies that imitate the Tui-Chubs @ Eagle and have been used with good success by famous Eagle Lake guides Ronnie Beck and Timmy Noxon. Tell the friendly folks that work there I said howdy!
Heritage Land Vacation Rentals: They have a bunch of rental properties near, or right on the lake. They are great people we have dealt with exclusively over the years. Rent a house with a lake view and walk to the boat in the morning!
Susanville has good motels and restaurants, you will need to drive about 45 minutes one way to get to Spalding. You can get food and supplies here before driving up to the lake.
High Country Inn in Susanville seems to be the favorite amongst the return folks and they are very well located for all your needs. (530) 257-3450. There is also a casino/motel near Susanville and those that have stayed here love it. Inexpensive clean rooms and very good food 24 hours a day. Diamond Mountain Casino.
