Silver Lake is arguably one of the most beautiful alpine fisheries in the entire Eastern Sierra. It’s crystal clear water, & incredible mountain panoramas are spectacular. Located a short distance north of Mammoth Lakes off Hwy 395 on the June Lake Loop. Silver is a natural lake, fed by snow melt from Rush Creek. It is a popular destination for those looking to escape the more crowded lakes in the Mammoth region. Silver is planted with CDFW rainbows, & has a healthy population of wild brown trout that spawn in Rush Creek during the fall. We guide fly fisherman on the lake from float tubes, drift boat, & center console power boats. Float tubing here is the best way for DIY fly fishers to access the lake. Fly fishing methods vary with conditions. We implement still water nymphing techniques near the inlet, and can cast streamers with heavy full sinking lines along the drop-offs seeking to hook that elusive monster brown. There are callibaetis mayflies, & midges during the warmer months. There is a very nice public boat launch for smaller vessels. A well operated marina with rental boats is open during the general trout season.
Open during general trout season only.
