Eastern Sierra Fishing Report 6/11/26

Here’s your Eastern Sierra Fishing Report for 6-11-26. Summer is creeping in, but not before some mixed weather came and went. Some dry cold fronts had created wind issues on some days, but we are looking at high pressure and warm weather ahead. Crowley Lake has really been producing some good quality fish, as is typical for the month of May. As we get into June, fishing continues to be good, but some days are seeing a bit of a slow down and and the algae bloom is starting to build a little now. We will have to wait and see how June goes as last season it got slow for a few weeks. Hot Creek, Upper Owens, East Walker and Mammoth Creek have been fishing ok. These areas will get even better as we get close to summer and start to see increased aquatic insect activity. The Mammoth and June Lakes area are full of fish. A recent trip to Silver Lake had most of the trout holding in deeper water like 24 – 40 feet and feeding best on small midge imitations. The Lower Owens River is running around 255 cfs, so stil fishable, but harder to wade right now. East Walker is holding at 158 cfs and Bridgeport Reservoir is experiencing a slow down with fish going deep and very spread out.

Creeks: Sierra Fishing Report

Hot Creek Fishing the riffles in the afternoons as the fish move in shallow for the BWO hatch has been picking up. Prior to that smaller nymphs and midges drifted under the banks and deeper pools have been good bets. The canyon section is really starting to show its true weed colors, so selective drifts are key now. Perdigons, midges, PT’s and SJ worms are doing well down here.

Rivers: Sierra Fishing Report

Upper Owens River The cutthroat spawn is done and it’s mostly smaller resident browns and rainbows in the river now. As Crowley Lake warms up and the fish scatter, you can find some nicer models in the river. Fish the usual spots of undercut banks and deeper pools. Look for fish in the shallows and eddies during peak hatch times.

Lower Owens River flows are around 255 cfs, so wading isn’t really an option here anymore, it’s been warm air temps down here and you can expect scorching temperatures coming this week and into the weekend. Best times to fish here now are early and late in the day to avoid the heat and get into the better fishing window.

East Walker River is still kicking out some large brown and rainbows. You have to cover some ground to find them, but most of the fish you hook here will be big. Flows are ideal currently, but we should start seeing a jump soon with Bridgeport Res being so full.

Crowley Lake Pretty hot fishing for all of May. Deep water is best around 23-26 feet. Steady morning bites have been giving way to a tapered off or a slower pick in the afternoons. Great quality rainbows showing up daily now in the catches. Mostly midges fished inches to 1 foot and a half off the bottom. Email us or call or text for the latest hot flies. Algae is really starting to show itself, but fishing has not been affected. The numbers have slowed some since last week or so.

Bridgeport Reservoir is very full this year. Pretty slow fishing right now as the fish have really scattered. We will see it pick up here as we get closer to July.
